Watch: Wayzata + The Modern Movement – February 4, 2021
Presented by the Wayzata Historical Society
Miss the live program or hoping to watch it again? We're happy to announce that Wayzata + The Modern Movement can now be streamed on YouTube! In the program, WzHS president Aaron Person explores the history of modern architecture in the greater Wayzata area from 1892 to 1970. Works by famous architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Philip Johnson, and Ralph Rapson are included in the presentation.
Wayzata and the 55391 zip code have long been regarded as a hotbed for modern design. Beginning as an anomaly with the completion of Frank Long’s “Squirrel’s Nest” cottage in 1892, modernism would soon proliferate throughout the community and the world. Two world wars later, it would become mainstream. |
