Tour day 2014 will begin at 10am at 1586 Burton in University Grove, a modern neighborhood near the St. Paul campus of the University of Minnesota. We will get the rare pleasure of touring the Dudley Riggs/Pauline Boss residence designed by Elizabeth and Winton Close. We will also be touring the private outdoor commons areas and gaining entry to other fabulous modern residences in the immediate area.
In the afternoon, at 1pm, we will reconvene at 288 Stonebridge Boulevard. This residence was built by industrial designer Karl Larson and will host the after party at 3pm. Stonebridge Boulevard is a unique area in the MacGroveland neighborhood of St. Paul. This 40 acre parcel of land overlooking the Mississippi River was developed between 1947 and 1959 and is a wonderful example of High Modernism in Minnesota. We will have the opportunity to walk the neighborhood and tour a number of the private residences.
It is a rare treat to see such modern gems and we hope you will join us. Tickets can be purchased at the door and in advance at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/docomomo-mn-tour-day-2014-tickets-13224249085. Admission includes tours and the after party.
