National Advocacy Themes

Every year Docomomo US establishes a thematic focus to guide programming and the annual Tour Day. These themes vary but typically highlight a pressing issue in the landscape of preserving modern buildings, landscapes, sites, and design. The theme is intended to put a sharp focus on a particular issue and provide some background and future predictions. 

Our chapter and Docomomo US incorporate the themes throughout the year in programming in a variety of ways, including:
  • Special edition newsletter focused on the theme as well as scholarly articles to be published on our website throughout the year. 
  • For Tour Day, Docomomo US chapters and partners host tours that engage with the theme. 
  • Planning special social media content to share the images, stories, and history associated with the theme and encouraging others to share on social media.
  • Sessions during the annual National Symposium explore the theme.
