Join Docomomo US/MN to tour the Byron E. Thomson Jr. House, built in 1961, designed by Arthur Dickey. The home sits on a quiet dead-end road and blends seamlessly into its wooded half-acre setting. Its multi-level layout offers three bedrooms on one level adjacent to a full bath, and multiple living and dining areas. The vaulted upper-level primary suite includes an attached ¾ bath, built-in closets, original Pella accordion doors that open to the living room below, and a private east-facing balcony. The house features original Vermont slate flooring that extends across the entire main level, including the half bath. Recent updates include new white oak flooring on the upper two levels, and brand-new carpet on lower two levels. The floating stairs lead to a walk-out lower level made up of a family room, flexible multi-use space, storage room, and offers access to the sunken cobblestone patio. The Byron E. Thomson Jr. House is located on Island View Road, off of Howards Point Road on the shores of Lake Minnetonka, in Shorewood, Minnesota. In-Person (self-guided) Tour: Sunday, July 19, 2026; 2-4pm.
